About David Feldman USA
David Feldman SA, one of the world’s leading philatelic auction houses, and holder of world records such as the highest price ever achieved for a philatelic item and the highest price ever for a single stamp, has opened offices in New York City and will run public auctions there under the name David Feldman USA.
The auction house, established by David Feldman over forty years ago and headquartered in Geneva since 1973, has sold more Grand Prix and Gold Medal exhibit collections than any company in the history of philately. In addition, in 2000, the Feldman firm pioneered the use of live interactive bidding over the internet live during a public auction to allow clients around the world to share in the experience of being in an auction room as lots are sold.
David Feldman USA will conduct pubic auctions focusing on great World Rarities, Exhibition Collections, and initiate monthly sales of Collections & Lots. The company will also offer the advantages of a one-owner sale to collectors with collections with a minimum value of $100,000.
Collectors and professional philatelists can expect the Feldman firm’s unwavering commitment to obtaining the maximum possible results through its renowned friendly and flexible customer service, intelligent promotion and presentation, backed by reliable financial strength.
A FRESH APPROACH TO PHILATELIC PUBLIC AUCTIONS
Right now the philatelic auction market in America works like this. Properties valued at $300,000 and over are sold in one-owner sales and everyone who collects the area participates and the prices are very strong. If a collection does not reach that threshold, then it serves as a building block for a “general” sale where the total reaches at least $1,000,000 but
- the collection is combined with other consignments which often leads to inconsistent results
- to make way for the more valuable (more profitable) sales, these sales are often pushed back and take place every six to nine months resulting in longer waiting times to be paid
- the high overhead of these houses forces an average lot value of $750-$1,000, resulting in fewer individual lots and lower net proceeds for the consignor.
We offer the American philatelic community a new option – if your collection is worth a minimum of $100,000, your collection can be marketed as a one-owner sale with all the trimmings including its own printed catalog and sold with a much shorter turn around time.
In addition, we plan to offer monthly collection sales, as well as more valuable single owner sales.
As in Switzerland, both collector and professional philatelists can expect the Feldman firm’s unwavering commitment to obtaining the maximum possible results through friendly and flexible customer service, intelligent promotion and presentation, backed by reliable financial strength.
Now more than ever, and around the globe, David Feldman is “your reliable partner” to obtain the best prices for your philatelic material. Please contact us to discuss your collection.
